Support for socio-professional integration of the young persons who are leaving the protection system within the General Directorates of the Social Assistance and Child Protection (DGASPC) in the districts 1, 5 and 6

The purpose of the project
The project is carried out between May 2008 – April 2009 and aims at
increasing the chances of insertion on the labor market of the young
persons aged over 18, who are ready to leave the child protection state
system

Target group
110 young persons (20 from DGASPC district 1, 30 from DGASPC district
6, 60 from DGASPC district 5) aged between 18 and 26 years old, ready
to leave the child protection state system
The ultimate beneficiaries:
• The communities that will integrate these 110 young persons after
they leave the child protection state system. The larger is the number
of the employees, the bigger is their contribution to the development
of the community; nevertheless, the amount of dependent people on the
state aid is decreasing
• Approximately 200 persons within the state protection system (DGASPC
Bucharest) who are directly working with young persons. Their work
consisting on integration into the society of the young people leaving
the child protection systems will be more efficient
• Families set up by these young people; as soon as they have a job,
they will be able to insure a stable income for their own family
members
• The employers, who will be able to hire qualified persons, who have
chosen to attend a particular professional education in accordance with
their personal abilities and skills, identified during the activities
of vocational counseling
The main activities:
• Advising and professional orientation towards young people (individual activity)
• Testing their capacities through a cluster of tests
• The setting up of an information and counseling center (at the
organization’s headquarter) and some working points in each of the
three districts
• Building up the requested abilities for getting a job (group activity)
• Caring out the requested activities for the efficient use of the information and communication technologies in getting a job
• Organizing a job fair
• Setting up the round table with the representatives of the institutions in the community
• Issuing the information materials for young people (brochures, papers cases leaflets) and for the personnel (guidance books)
• Organizing a seminar for disseminating the information materials and the projects’ results
The envisaged results:
- the increasing of the young persons access to the vacancies and to proffesional qualifications’ courses
- the young people involved in the program will opt for a particular
professional qualification, suitable for both their wishes and
possibilities and for the social work needs
- the young participants to these actions will gain the abilities
needed for issuing the self presentation documents for getting a job,
will get the capacity to compare their personal level of
qualifications/knowledge gathered in school with the requests of the
desired position and will be able to plan their
professional/educational choice, according to the desired job
- increasing the involvement of the civil society in supporting the
inclusion of the young people who are leaving the foster centers on the
labour market
